California has many beautiful lakes and Big Lake is one of them. The Coast Ranges scenery is always beautiful. Barney Creek is one of the streams nearby that might be worth stopping at, and you can run the rapids of Trinity River - South Fork. The warmest time of the year at Big Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 90's; the night is a tad colder of course, generally in the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 50's with temperatures

a while, Gray Falls Campground is a great place for that; hiking is a popular thing to do around Big Lake; Grouse Creek Tractor Trail is a tremendous local trail. This lake is so wonderful. Big Lake is a place with many visitors from
Eureka-Arcata-Fortuna; Big Lake is right by the Dan East Trail.

on the perfect whitewater of Trinity River; Sims Mountain is a peak you can catch a sight of from Big Lake. The high level of precipitation makes Big Lake a quite wet spot; December is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is July.
