     The high level of precipitation makes Big Elk Lake a rather wet spot; through the month of December you get the most rain around here, and July on the other hand is the driest. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing stuff in the Klamath Mountains. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Boundary National Recreation Trail, and do set aside some time for Dads Pocket while you're here at Big Elk Lake. There's just no way someone  
   can get bored here at Big Elk Lake. Camping at Spring Flat Campground is always a great experience, and Big Elk Lake is not the only site nearby, Rainy Lake is a nearby lake.
That right there is heaps of entertaining things already but it goes on, the Klamath Mountains has it all. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Salmon River - North Fork, and brilliant hiking is available along the Garden Gulch Trail. Big Elk Lake is glorious enough to spend more than a day
 
               at, Sulphur Springs Campground is a glorious local campground, and get drenched paddling on Wooley Creek. You could also stop at Gate Lake while you're here at Big Elk Lake; it's close by; the summit of Marble Mountain can be observed from Big Elk Lake.
For the period of the summer months, highs mostly are in the 90's at Big Elk Lake with nighttime lows in the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are ordinarily in the 40's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Big Elk Lake. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Baymont Inn & Suites Yreka is a perfect place to spend a night or two, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Big Elk Lake; Tanners Peak Trail is a nice local trail. Big Elk Lake is one of the lakes here in the Klamath Mountains.
