Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 40's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 40's; nighttime lows in the 20's for Big Chief Lake. Big Chief Lake is pretty waterless ordinarily; January is the wettest month with most rain while June is usually the driest month. All the outdoors cool stuff in the Central Sierra Nevada will keep you coming back many times.       There is a perfect hiking trail near Big Chief Lake called the Sherwin Lakes Trail, and you'll hit upon a beautiful lake called Pendant Lake. This lake is so wonderful. There's some flowing water nearby, East Pinnacles Creek is a stream you can go to during your stay; if you came for an overnight stay Jackass's Meadows Campground is a tremendous site to camp. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Central Sierra Nevada. Gemini is a peak you can catch a glimpse                  of from Big Chief Lake, and why not camp at Lower Blayney Campground since you're here at Big Chief Lake. This lake is located in the wonderful Central Sierra Nevada. This spot is unbeatable, just look at all the amusing stuff to do close to Big Chief Lake. Lakes are such serene places, why not stop at Spearpoint Lake near Big Chief Lake, and Mammoth Mountain has good slopes and a friendly staff.
