Get dripping wet paddling on San Joaquin River - South Fork; Big Chief Lake is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Lower Blayney Campground is a magnificent local campground. High temperatures at Big Chief Lake during the summer are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's. Throughout the wintertime the highs are usually in the 40's while Big Chief Lake  
   overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 20's. Big Chief Lake is a location that is pretty dried up mostly; most of the rain falls during January, and June meanwhile is the driest month.
Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing stuff in the Central Sierra Nevada. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Sherwin Lakes Trail, and camping at Jackass's Meadows Campground is always a delightful experience. Looking for some flowing water? Try East

Big Chief Lake in fact is in the middle of a beautiful outdoors paradise. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Mammoth Mountain since you're here.
