Throughout the winter the highs are generally in the 40's, and overnight lows through the wintertime for Berts Lake tend to be in the 20's. Man, is there plenty of cool things to do close to Berts Lake. Loon Lake is a great lake near Berts Lake; Alpine Meadows is a very popular ski area in close proximity.       And if that's not sufficient there's a lot more cool things to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Lakes? Sure, Francis Lake is in the neighborhood; nearby you discover the Sun Rock Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail. Berts Lake gets lots of water; during January this area sees the most rain; July on the other hand is the driest. Wentworth Springs Campground is a tremendous campground nearby, and Silver Creek - South Fork is a magnificent whitewater                  spot nearby. The peak of Chipmunk Bluff can be seen from Berts Lake, and in case you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on American River - South Fork. Berts Lake is a beautiful lake in the Northern Sierra Nevada. A pleasant trip to Poison Hole is a good way to spend an afternoon, and there is a magnificent hiking trail close by called the Loon Lake Trail. Now, you may assume that's a heap but there's even more fun things to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. After a long day outdoors Squaw Valley Lodge is a good site to spend a night or two; Berts Lake is a glorious place to visit for more than one day, Pleasant Boat-In Campground is a glorious place to camp nearby. If only every location had this much outdoors cool stuff, what a great earth it would be. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Plumpjack Squaw Valley Inn is a good choice, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Homewood. This lake is so wonderful.
