    If you are traveling by, why not stop by Bench Lakes. That right there is a heap of amusing stuff already but it goes on, the Central Sierra Nevada has it all. The John Muir Trail - section 2 offers hiking at its best, and if you come at the right time of year, Mono Creek offers some nice whitewater. If only every place had this much outdoors exciting things, what a great globe it would be. Bench Lakes is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Cold  
   Water Campground is a delightful local campground; whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend San Joaquin River - South Fork. Bench Lakes is one of the lakes here in the Central Sierra Nevada.
This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Vermilion Campground is always a wonderful experience, and great hiking is available along the Mammoth Rock Trail. Devils Top is a peak you can see from Bench Lakes. There's good hiking along
 
               the Sherwin Lakes Trail; a journey to Devils Postpile National Monument is recommended.
Bench Lakes gets very little rain; the wettest month of the year is regularly January, that's the one that rains the most, and June on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Everybody close by loves skiing at June Mountain, and after a long day outdoors Rodeway Inn Sierra Nevada is a brilliant place to spend a night or two. A nice nearby hotel is Juniper Springs Resort; Mammoth Mountain is a wonderful local ski area.
Be careful coming to the Central Sierra Nevada, you might not ever wanna go home again. Do go to Beetlebug Lake right next door to Bench Lakes, it's a wonderful lake; Iva Bell Hot Springs is a charming place to stop by while you're at Bench Lakes. Summertime at Bench Lakes arrives with high temperatures in the 70's while night lows are frequently in the 40's. All through the winter highs are usually in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Bench Lakes.
