Antonelli Pond is a delightful lake in close proximity to Bay Street Reservoir, and hey, Carbonera Creek is a perfect local stream. This lake is so wonderful. Near Bay Street Reservoir you come across the Rincon Fire Road Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail, and Ocean Pacific Lodge is a good location to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Lighthouse Field is right here at Bay Street Reservoir, and if you need a location to stay Babbling Brook Inn is a delightful choice. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Bay Street Reservoir, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. always a great experience.
This place, Bay Street Reservoir, it just has so much outdoors amusing stuff. At Bay Street Reservoir you always meet someone from Santa Cruz-Watsonville, and nearby Cave Gulch is a brilliant place to
go. Soar down the rapids of San Lorenzo River in a kayak, and Santa Cruz Beach is a beach close by that you can stop at. Be careful coming to the Santa Cruz Mountains, you might not ever wanna return home again. Get covered with water
paddling on San Lorenzo River; do schedule some time to take a look at Mitchell Cove if you have a chance.
Going for a hike on the Summit Trail is always a pleasant adventure; swamps like Nearys Lagoon are fun to explore. Yeah,
come here to Bay Street Reservoir for a delightful time. Why not spend some time golfing at a nearby golf course like Pasatiempo Golf Club, and if you're looking for a beach close by we recommend Cowell Beach. This lake is so wonderful.
That right there is a lot of exciting things already but it goes on, the Santa Cruz Mountains has it all. A beautiful lake like Younger Lagoon near Bay Street Reservoir is a glorious site to stop at; you can go for a hike on the Sequoia
Nature Trail. Bay Street Reservoir is a wet location that gets a great deal of rain; January is the wettest month with most rain while July is usually the driest month.

...s. The left-most is the one to take as the right will leave you high and not-quite-dry, though I suppose this may change from year to year.
Where the river goes around the Hogsback there is a lot of large woody debris, including a narrow area with strainers that could be quite dangerous. Recently the county has announced that woody debris will no longer be cleared from county streams in an effort to restore our nearly extinct steelhead populations, and this may make the situation even worse. I don't know whether it will be practical to portage around the woodpile at the point where the river make its final bend toward Paradise Park.
Past the Hogsback, the river goes through a number of very mild rapids, often in narrow willow-lined channels. A special treat is the opportunity to pass under the 1867 Powder Mill Flat covered bridge at Paradise Park, not normally seen by the public as the community is a private enclave of the Masons.

But there's a bunch of much nicer and quieter beaches just a few blocks to the north (it's actually west but you know, up the coast). The real nice beaches around here are a few miles up hwy 1 though, strawberry beach, 3 mile beach, 4 mile beach to name a few.... |
