There's just no way someone can get bored here at Barton Lake. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Barton Lake temperatures fall to the 20's. If the weather is splendid here at Barton Lake, you can go for a hike along the Sisson Calahan National Recreation Trail; Salt Lake is a great lake close by.

At Barton Lake you don’t see much rainfall; December is the month that gets the most rain; July is the month with the least moisture.

This peak is trailless, meaning a portion or all of the route up the mountain is via an unmarked trail. If you can ski Mt. Ashland, you can ski anywhere, is a boast locals in southern Oregon have made for 45 years. It is true; Mt. Ashland offers plenty of adventure for both skiers and riders. The ski area is located about a half an hour drive from the charming town of Ashland, home to the world renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival. At 7,500 feet, Mt. Ashland is the highest point in the Siskiyou mountain range. Its north facing slopes collect an average 300 inches of snowfall annually. The ski area offers 23 trails in addition to chute skiing and boarding in its famous bowl. All trails are easily accessed by 4 chairlifts. Twilight skiing on 10 runs is scheduled Thursday through Friday evenings beginning in late-December. The mountain prides itself on a warm and friendly atmosphere.
