     Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Shasta River, and a glorious nearby hotel is Quality Inn & Suites Weed. There's just no way someone can get bored here at Barton Lake. The Bear Creek Trail is a nice hiking trail right next door to Barton Lake, and if you need a spot to stay Holiday Inn Express YREKA-SHASTA AREA is a fine choice. For the period of the warm days of summer here at Barton Lake, high temperatures generally  
   get into the 90's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Barton Lake temperatures fall to the 20's. If the weather is splendid here at Barton Lake, you can go for a hike along the Sisson Calahan National Recreation Trail; Salt Lake is a great lake close by.
On a wonderful day you acquire a vista of Drop Rock from Barton Lake, and Trailer Lane RV Park
 
               is a tremendous campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are such serene spots, why not have a look at Cloak Lake near Barton Lake; Cove Mobile Villa is a perfect local campground. Going for a hike along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 18 will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region.
At Barton Lake you don’t see much rainfall; December is the month that gets the most rain; July is the month with the least moisture.

If you can ski Mt. Ashland, you can ski anywhere, is a boast locals in southern Oregon have made for 45 years. It is true; Mt. Ashland offers plenty of adventure for both skiers and riders. The ski area is located about a half an hour drive from the charming town of Ashland, home to the world renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival. At 7,500 feet, Mt. Ashland is the highest point in the Siskiyou mountain range. Its north facing slopes collect an average 300 inches of snowfall annually. The ski area offers 23 trails in addition to chute skiing and boarding in its famous bowl. All trails are easily accessed by 4 chairlifts. Twilight skiing on 10 runs is scheduled Thursday through Friday evenings beginning in late-December. The mountain prides itself on a warm and friendly atmosphere.
