There's a great category V+ segment of whitewater nearby on San Joaquin River - Middle Fork, the 32.5-mile-long Devils Postpile Nat'l Monument to Mammoth Pool Reservoir sector. For experienced paddlers this segment of San Joaquin River - Middle Fork is a fun site to run. Check restrictions in advance of a trip on the whitewater, otherwise it's not safe. The elevation variation is 1,224 feet for a pretty 2.8-mile-in-length great outdoors trail in close proximity;
we are unsurprisingly speaking about the Mammoth Rock Trail. Mammoth Rock Trail calls for three hours to walk; it's a difficult great outdoors trail.
