This lake is so wonderful. There's good hiking along the Kings River Trail; the sight of beautiful Mount Agassiz is nice. Not much precipitation falls here at Barrett Lakes; throughout January this area sees the most rain; June is when it's the driest. Glide down the rapids of Kings River - Middle Fork in a kayak, and the Pacific Crest Trail - section 11 offers hiking at its best. Now, you may imagine that's a load but there's even more enjoyable things

of Barrett Lakes. Everybody loves Deer Meadow, obviously you could also stop at Bishop Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. And if that's not enough there's loads more exciting stuff to do in the Central Sierra Nevada.
Dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Bishop; it's a fine idea to have a look at Cataract Creek. This lake is located in the wonderful Central Sierra Nevada. Looking for something close to Barrett Lakes? Sam Mack Lake is nearby.
This lake is so wonderful. A visit to Devils Postpile National Monument is worthwhile, and if you came to camp Second Falls Campground is a pleasant spot to do that. After a long day outdoors Days Inn Bishop is a fine place to spend
a night or two. There's so much to do here at Barrett Lakes that you need to camp here for a while, Willow Campground is a great place for that.

Sabrina Campground
 | I have such fond memories of family trips to Sabrina and camping just up from the lake on the stream side. Don't know what the campground name was or even if it had a name back in thoes days. It was every summer in 1960's. First went there when I was a baby. My parents packed back in several times. Anyway, my Dad died a few months ago and he always said he wanted to go back before he died. I like to think that he is there somewhere fishing that stream by the campground that we all loved so much. Fond Fond memories.... |

Big Trees Campground
 | 10 miles away The only way to drop a kayak in Kings river is a very long drive (maybe 4-5 hours) to the west side or the range, or lugging it through the wilderness (over the spine). I think I would have to give a gold medal to anyone who would lug a kayak from Big Trees to Kings river. Just a heads-up.... |
