There's no way someone can get bored here in the Central Sierra Nevada. Go for a hike on the Mammoth Rock Trail; if you came for an overnight stay Cold Water Campground is a magnificent place to camp. At Barney Lake you don’t see much precipitation; January is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is June. This is no place for people who don’t like to have fun. A lake nearby is Woods Lakes; Sky Meadows is                  a wonderful location any time of year. The Central Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful. Don't leave Barney Lake without first going for a hike along the Sherwin Lakes Trail; hey, Gotta ski right? Mammoth Mountain is a pleasant location to do that. All through the warmest time of the year here at Barney Lake, high temperatures frequently reach the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 40's. Highs during the winter are commonly in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Barney Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Drift down the rapids of San Joaquin River - South Fork in a kayak, and don't miss out on a spree to Devils Postpile National Monument if you're here.
