Sure, Herring Reservoir is close by. Banner Reservoir is located in the Northern Sierra Nevada. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking along the Lafayette Ridge Trail is glorious fun, and Banner Reservoir is a magnificent spot to visit for more than one day, Aspen Group - Tahoe National Forest is a magnificent spot to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. A nice nearby hotel is Best Western       Gold Country Inn, and there are other spots here than Banner Reservoir, for example Idaho-Maryland Reservoir. What a site this is for outdoors folks. Banner Reservoir is right by the Humbug Trail; don't forget to take a glorious little trip to Gold Run. Summertime highs at Banner Reservoir generally tend to be in the 80's, and the overnight is quite cooler of course, commonly in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 40's; after the sun is down during                  the wintertime temperatures at Banner Reservoir sink into the 20's. Banner Reservoir is a reasonably wet place usually with a good deal of rainfall; through the month of January you get the most rain around here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you're here, you might as well go to Eagle Ravine. Be careful coming to the Northern Sierra Nevada, you might not ever want to return back home again. Get your heart pumping on the brilliant whitewater of Yuba River - South Fork, and a golf course nearby is Nevada County Country Club. That right there is a heap of enjoyable things already but it goes on, the Northern Sierra Nevada has it all. If you need a location to stay Piety Hill Cottages is a tremendous choice, and Faucherie - Tahoe National Forest is a tremendous campground nearby.
