Going for a hike along the Mount Wilson Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood, and there's some attention-grabbing stuff to make out at Bailey Debris Dam near Baldwin Lake. Bailey Canyon is a nice site to go to close by; if the weather is perfect, you can go for a hike along the Upper Winter Creek Trail. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Baldwin Lake has to offer, you can camp at Henninger Flats Non-Forest Service Campground; hey, East Branch Arcadia Wash is a good local stream. while, Hoegee Campground is a great place for that. If you need a place to stay Santa Anita Inn is a good choice; you can never get enough of the good skiing at Mt Waterman. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Baldwin
Lake you can take a hike along the Winter Creek Trail, and Garfield Reservoirs is a nice lake close by. High temperatures at Baldwin Lake through the warm months are in the 80's; the night is a bit cooler of course, typically
in the 60's. During the wintertime highs are frequently in the 50's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Baldwin Lake sink into the 30's. Baldwin Lake gets a typical amount of yearly rain; February is
when you get the most rain here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Really wonderful skiing awaits you at Mt. Baldy; you'll perhaps meet some folks from Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana here. Golf can
be played at Santa Anita Golf Course, and do set aside some time for Auburn Debris Basin if you're here at Baldwin Lake.

 | We hiked this trail on 9/8/07. Total r/t miles were 14 from trailhead to summit of Mt. Wilson. This was a very strenuous day hike. Lots of switchbacks (some great than 45 degrees) with plenty of outlook points to view all the way from downtown LA to OC. Trail conditions were somewhat shaded however, plenty exposure to hot sun in morning and afternoon. Bring lots of water (refill water avail. at top).... |

Notice that a large rock appears to be loose and or without support. It looks like the rock is supporting the trail above. Someone should take a closer look at that rock. In heavy rain it could come down. It looks unstable.... |
