The Horse Range here at Azalea Lake makes the scenery here fine, and perfect hiking is available along the Painted Rock Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Near Azalea Lake you hit upon nice places like Castle Valley, and since you're here at Azalea Lake, checking out Frog Lake Cliff is a must. So much amusing stuff in the Northern Sierra Nevada, just mind-blowing.       After a long day outdoors The Inn at Truckee is a fine place to spend a night or two. There's so much to do here at Azalea Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Onion Creek Campground is a brilliant location for that. Holiday Inn Express TRUCKEE is a pleasant place to get some rest, and Billy Mack Flat is a great location to check out. Playing golf is lots of fun at Tahoe Donner Golf Course, and if you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater                  paddling on Yuba River - South Fork. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Azalea Lake has to offer, you can camp at Van Norden Campground, and Donner Ski Ranch is a very popular ski area close at hand. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Go for a hike on the Warren Lake Trail; do have a look at Flora Lake, it's a wonderful lake. But wait, there's more to do near Azalea Lake. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Boreal, and since you're here, you could also have a look at gorgeous Lake Angela. This place, Azalea Lake, it definitely has so much outdoors amusing stuff. Donner Peak is clearly visible from Azalea Lake; don't leave Azalea Lake without first going for a hike along the Lola Montez Trail. And that's not all there is to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Fordyce Creek has a delightful whitewater paddling spot close by. Azalea Lake sees pretty high levels of rain; the month with most of the rain is January, and July is when it's the driest. Throughout the summertime highs here at Azalea Lake reach the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's.
