The Southern Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful. Going for a hike on the Pacific Crest Trail - section 11 is always a great adventure; after a long day outdoors Best Western Frontier Motel is a great spot to spend a night or two. That right there is a heap of entertaining stuff already but it goes on, the Southern Sierra Nevada has it all.
Not much rain falls here at Arrowhead Lake; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain,

| | and June is when it's the driest. At Arrowhead Lake through the summer months highs are in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 50's. All through the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 40's with temperatures at Arrowhead Lake dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Arrowhead Lake you can make out Diamond Peak, and if you came to camp Symmes Creek Campground is a nice spot to do that.

time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Arrowhead Lake. Don't leave Arrowhead Lake without first going for a hike along the Mount Whitney Trail, and you can go for a hike on the John Muir Trail - Pacific Crest Section. Be
careful coming to the Southern Sierra Nevada, you might not ever wanna return back home again. Do visit Rae Lakes in the vicinity of Arrowhead Lake, it's a stunning lake. There's so much to do here at Arrowhead Lake that you need
to camp here for a while, Sawmill Creek Campground is a tremendous site for that. You'll stumble on a picturesque lake called Dollar Lake near Arrowhead Lake, and a tour to Sixty Lake Basin rejuvenates the soul.

There are a number of activities available right out of Aberdeen, fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, prospecting, or rock hounding with many dirt roads, and trails that one could spend the day on.
We have three campgrounds close by, Goodale campground (BLM) one mile to the west, continue up Goodale rd. Taboose campground (Inyo County) one mile to the north on Tinemaha rd. and Tinemaha campground (Inyo County) four miles to the north, paved access from Fish Springs turn off, then up Tinemaha rd. This is a picture I took of Moose Lake on a lengthy loop hike in the Sequoias taking the Lakes trail past Heather, Astor, Emerald, and Pear Lakes; then cross country over the divide above Moose Lake where I took this photograph looking down on the lake. I then returned to the trailhead by going southwest over the divide down to the Alta Trail through Panther Gap back to the Lakes trailhead. A very long day hike. I took pictures along the entire route.... |
