Go to Apollo Lake if you want to go to a nice lake. Rosemarie Meadow is a brilliant place here at Apollo Lake, and why not a little side tour to East Fork Bear Creek. Lakes? Sure, Bear Twin Lakes is in the vicinity, and if you haven’t been to Devils Postpile National Monument, you should schedule some time for it if you're here. The Central Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful.
Whohoo, so many amusing things in one place! The Central Sierra Nevada is

so good! You'll need more than a day to look at everything Apollo Lake has to offer, you can camp at Lower Blayney Campground, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Apollo Lake; Mammoth Rock Trail is a great local trail. During the summer at Apollo Lake highs are ordinarily in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 40's. Highs throughout the winter are commonly in the 40's; during the dark hours in the winter at Apollo Lake temperatures
descend to the 20's. You believe that's enough? Just getting warmed up. There's so much to do here at Apollo Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Upper Vermillion Campground is a tremendous place for that, and there's glorious hiking along the Sherwin Lakes Trail.
This lake is so wonderful. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Mammoth Mountain, and get your pulse rate up on the nice whitewater of San Joaquin River - South Fork. Now, you may feel that's a load but there's even more cool stuff to do here in the Central Sierra Nevada. Rodeway Inn Sierra Nevada is a delightful site to get some rest, and you can run the rapids of Mono Creek. Dry warm beds await you at Mammoth Creek Inn.
This lake is so wonderful. The snow is nice at Sierra Summit, and the Red Mountain Trail offers hiking at its best. Apollo Lake is pretty waterless usually; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain; June meanwhile is the driest month.
