Lakes? Sure, Valor Lake is around here, and going for a hike on the Don Cecil Trail is always a delightful adventure. Ambition Lake is a location that is pretty waterless regularly; January is the month that gets the most rain, and June meanwhile is the driest month. Ambition Lake is a beautiful lake in the Central Sierra Nevada.
Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Kings River - Middle Fork, and North Lake Campground

is a great local campground. Summer at Ambition Lake comes with high temperatures in the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Ambition Lake. Whohoo, so many exciting things in one place! The Central Sierra Nevada is so good! Bighorn Lake is a magnificent lake near Ambition Lake; close by you find the John Muir Trail - Pacific Crest Section which is a splendid hiking
               trail.
You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors cool things the Central Sierra Nevada has to offer. If time allows, Devils Postpile National Monument is a national park worth stopping at. This is no location for people who don’t like to have a good time. Blackcap Basin is a good location, and you can go for a hike on the Sheep Creek Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Ambition Lake you can make out Mount Reinstein, and Ambition Lake is a splendid location to visit for more than one day, Sabrina Campground is a splendid location to camp nearby.

North Lake Campground
11 miles away
I have never seen it in the 90's in summer (way to high for those temps), and I am sure it is a heck of lot colder than 50's in the winter...

Sabrina Campground
12 miles away
I have such fond memories of family trips to Sabrina and camping just up from the lake on the stream side. Don't know what the campground name was or even if it had a name back in thoes days. It was every summer in 1960's. First went there when I was a baby. My parents packed back in several times. Anyway, my Dad died a few months ago and he always said he wanted to go back before he died. I like to think that he is there somewhere fishing that stream by the campground that we all loved so much. Fond Fond memories....

Big Trees Campground
15 miles away
The only way to drop a kayak in Kings river is a very long drive (maybe 4-5 hours) to the west side or the range, or lugging it through the wilderness (over the spine). I think I would have to give a gold medal to anyone who would lug a kayak from Big Trees to Kings river. Just a heads-up....

Great place to visit! A must see for all families and tourists! The awe and marvel at the beauty of the lake is indescribable! My family had an awsome experience and Joey, Anisa, and Diana ( my children) all would love to go back!  Bear Twin Lakes is not a place to miss! Just watch out for the occasional black bear!...

Jackass's Meadows Campground
18 miles away
I've been to the campground and it is a great area; however, it is NOT an arid environment as the description says.? It is located at over 7000 feet in a forested area.? In addition, there is NO access to Devils Postpile (or the Mammoth area, as is implied by the lodging links). The campground is located at the end of the road and there is no road pass over the Sierra anywhere in this area. This campground is seasonal and is snowed in completely in the winter. ...
