Summer brings highs in the 80's to Wheatfields Lake. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. During the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 40's, and overnight lows at Wheatfields Lake through the winter usually fall into the 10's. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Chuska Mountains. White Cone is charming and can be seen from Wheatfields Lake; Wheatfields       Lake is a fine place to visit for more than one day, Black Pinnacle Campground is a fine place to camp nearby. Wheatfields Lake gets very little rainfall; all through August this area sees the most rain; June on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. You'll hit upon a picturesque lake called Little White Cone Lake near Wheatfields Lake, and South Shore Campground is a tremendous local campground. Wheatfield Dam is not far at all from Wheatfields                  Lake; dry warm beds await you at Quality Inn Navajo Nation Capital. Near Wheatfields Lake you come across the Black Rock Trail which is a great hiking trail, and lakes are such serene spots, why not pop by Whiskey Reservoir. So many exciting things in the Chuska Mountains, just inspiring. Any time is a great time at Wheatfields Lake if you have a thing about the outdoors.
