After a long day outdoors Best Western Sunrise Inn is a great site to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Steeple Mesa Seventy-Three Trail. Lakes are good; Campbell Flat Lake is a lake that's in the vicinity of Thomas Lake. This spot, the San Francisco Mountains, has so much outdoors fun things. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend       Blue River; not far from Thomas Lake you'll hit upon P Bar Lake which is a beautiful lake. Thomas Lake gets very little precipitation; August is the wettest month with most rain; May is when it's the driest. Why not camp at Stray Horse Campground since you're here at Thomas Lake; there's delightful hiking along the Stray Horse Canyon Trail Twenty. So much cool stuff to do in the San Francisco Mountains, not enough time. Good hiking is available along the                  Raspberry Trail Thirty-five; some attention-grabbing geology is available here, Ice Cream Cone is right here. You completely must love Thomas Lake. A nice site to stop at in the neighborhood of Thomas Lake is Barnes Canyon, and a short tour to Bear Spring is always worthwhile. There's some flowing water close by, Grant Creek is a stream you can go to during your stay, and get your heart beating on the good whitewater of Black River - East Fork. Throughout the months of summer at Thomas Lake temperatures are ordinarily in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 40's. Through the winter the highs are typically in the 40's while Thomas Lake overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful.
