Potholes is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. High temperatures at Potholes during the summertime months are in the 70's. Summer night lows fall down to the 40's. Through the winter the highs are mostly in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Potholes are in the 10's. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Grand Canyon Squire Inn; you can go for a hike on the Hance Trail. Do pay a visit to Grand Canyon National Park if you're here at Potholes,

| | and there are good sites to discover along the Grandview Trail. During your spree to Potholes you'll meet some people from Flagstaff for sure. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Potholes. Canyon Plaza Resort is a pleasant spot to get some rest; if you're here, you could also pop by scenic Huff Reservoir. Potholes has to offer, you can camp at Grand Canyon Camper Village, and don't leave Potholes without first going for a hike along the Clear Creek Trail.

Hermit Trail
 | 19 miles away (...) Hermit trail is in the Grand Canyon! And anyone who thinks it will be in the 70's in summer in the bottom of the Grand Canyon is in for a very unpleasant surprise! More like 120 degrees and you can die from that heat. Best hiking time is spring or fall for this trail. Summer is too dangerous, unless you are used to that broiler-oven desert heat. You need a permit to hike this trail, and since it is popular with backpackers, you will have to get it 4 months in advance, and it is not free. If you have never backpacked before they won't issue it to you, either. (...)... |
