Post Lake is not the only place close by, Als Lake is a close by lake, and there's some flowing water nearby, Ashurst Run is a stream you can explore during your stay. If you haven’t been to Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument, you have to schedule some time for it since you're here, and wonderful hiking is available along the Walnut Canyon Loop Trail. You could also stop at Pickett Lake since you're here at Post Lake; it's close by, and a good site to camp

| | here at Post Lake is Forked Pine Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Yep, outdoors cool things to do are beyond doubt abundant here at Post Lake. If you need a place to stay Fairfield Flagstaff Resort is a pleasant choice; here at Post Lake you can catch a sight of Anderson Mesa. Summertime highs at Post Lake generally tend to be in the 80's. in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Post Lake are in the 10's. A great close by hotel is Residence Inn Flagstaff, and why not explore Ashurst Lake Dam while you're here. Post Lake gets very little rain; the month of July
is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is June. This lake is so wonderful. Everybody close by loves skiing at Arizona Snowbowl, and camping at Ashurst Lake Campground is always a brilliant experience.
