McClure Lake is a lake worth visiting. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Payson Inn, and you can have a splendid hiking adventure along the Horton Creek Trail. McClure Lake gets a normal amount of annual precipitation; the wettest month of the year is frequently March, that's the one that rains the most while June is generally the driest month. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining things in the Mogollon Rim Mountains. All year is a wonderful time

Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Rock Crossing Campground is a great local campground, and do take a hike on the Highline Trail. This lake is so wonderful. You could also stop by Dry Lake since you're here at
McClure Lake; it's close by, and McClure Lake is right by the Myrtle Trail. Throughout the summer months highs here at McClure Lake get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime
come with highs in the 50's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at McClure Lake fall into the 20's. This lake is located in the wonderful Mogollon Rim Mountains.

 | ?We were camping near Clints Well and Happy Jack area with our two dogs, Small Beagal and Black Lab.Both females. They took off after bunnies and never came back to campsite. This happened? the last weekend of July. If any hikers or anyone at campgrounds has seen these dogs please call 623 214 2098.We are located in Phoenix. Myrtle Trail
 | 12 miles away ... The lightning-caused Rim fire, on the Payson Ranger District east of Washington Park, 13 miles NE of Payson, Ariz. , began on July 20. The fire is being managed under a modified suppression strategy due to concerns about steep topography and firefighter safety. Fire managers are using existing roads, trails, and topgraphic features to contain the fire. Recent rains have moderated fire intensity, creating burning conditions which will achieve resource benefit objectives.
The fire was active yesterday due to increased temperatures, moving to the southwest and reaching the Highline Trail. A successful burn-out was conducted last night along a ridge on the eastern boundary.
The area encompassed by the following trail boundaries (including the trails themselves) is closed to support firefighting operations and provide for public safety until further notice: On the west side, from the top of Rim Trail 290 (Col. Devin Trail) and Trail 390 (Railroad Tunnel Trail) down to the Washington Park Trailhead. Closures on the south side are from Trail 31 (Highline Trail) at the Washing... |
