MORE STUFF NEARBY:

Tonto Lake
Tonto lake is on the Fort Apache Reservation and is reserved for tribal members only.  Robinson Mesa and Chitty trails are a long ways from Tonto, Drift Fence and Reservation Lakes.  You need to check out the Tribal Regulations before entering tribal lands, some of the camping information may be incorrect and reservation permits are required for all non-member activities....

Pacheta Lake
11 miles away
Tough lake to fish. Small fish, shallow water, heavy winds. Access out is impossible after rains....

Hurricane Lake
14 miles away
Restricted entry, check tribal regulations for proper permits....

Hurricane Lake Campground
14 miles away
This used to be a great spot, however the tribe has made this a restricted entry lake. You will need to check the tribal regulations for the proper permits....

Christmas Tree Lake
15 miles away
This lake is on the Ft. Apache Indian Reservation and access is limited by a special permit.  Check Tribal regulations for permits.  Moon creek may be in a closed area.  Mavrick cienega is not at the lake; it is miles away, as are the trails listed. Would not recommend Blackriver for whitewater....

There is restricted entry to Hurricane lake! Check tribal regulations before getting into trouble....
'Apache Homestead'', Ft. Apache, Az., Oct.'07 ... Howard Paley.  Rustic open-air stockyard shelters like this one dot the landscape en route to Reservation Lake that is   located south of Greer, Az. via Highway 273 (Sunrise Turnoff) at an elevation of 9,500 feet on the White Mountain Apache Reservation.  Camping & fishing permits are required....
Late October fishing trips can produce some outstanding sunsets like this one....

Sheep Crossing_Baldy Ninetyfour Trail
19 miles away
This trail goes to the top of Mt. Baldy, the second-highest peak in Arizona. It is 7 miles one way, 14 miles round trip. There is NO campground called Sheep's Crossing any more.  You can camp at Big Lake, or at Winn Campground. Also, there is NO access in winter except on snowshoes, cross country skis or via snowmobile.  The gates are closed, usually right up to just before Memorial Day weekend.  It would be a very long walk indeed to get there....

Earl Park Lake
19 miles away
7-24-09 caught six rainbows. The largest was twenty inches measured with a tape measure while trolling with a black wooly bugger behind thirty feet of full sink Orvis depth charge full sink line. Note, you will have to work for those fish and it will probably take longer than ten minutes....Agreed, don't bother going here....Never fish here; it sucks....
