to camp here for a while, DeMotte Campground is a great place for that. Around Little Park Lake you don’t get a lot of rain; during August this area sees the most rain while June is typically the driest month. This lake is so
wonderful. Little Park Lake is right by the Tiyo Point Trail, and if you need a spot to stay The Grand Hotel is a delightful choice. Hiking along the Old Kaibab Trail is magnificent fun; lots of folks from Flagstaff come here.

Hermit Trail
 | 15 miles away (...) Hermit trail is in the Grand Canyon! And anyone who thinks it will be in the 70's in summer in the bottom of the Grand Canyon is in for a very unpleasant surprise! More like 120 degrees and you can die from that heat. Best hiking time is spring or fall for this trail. Summer is too dangerous, unless you are used to that broiler-oven desert heat. You need a permit to hike this trail, and since it is popular with backpackers, you will have to get it 4 months in advance, and it is not free. If you have never backpacked before they won't issue it to you, either. (...)... |
