You just can't picture the amount of outdoors fun stuff the Mogollon Rim Mountains has to offer. Good hiking is available along the Salt House Eighteen Trail, and Fish Bench is a great spot to explore while in the neighborhood. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Elk Lake while overnight lows are typically in the 50's. Highs through the winter are commonly in the 50's while Elk Lake overnight low temperatures all       through the wintertime are in the 20's. Elk Lake is one of the lakes here in the Mogollon Rim Mountains. Whohoo, so many enjoyable things in one place! The Mogollon Rim Mountains rules! Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Blue River; Elk Lake is a wonderful site to visit for more than one day, Hannagan Campground is a wonderful site to camp nearby. Don't leave Elk Lake without first going for a hike along the KP                  Trail Seventy, and there are some splendid whitewater spots on Black River - East Fork. Yep, outdoors amusing stuff to do are really abundant here at Elk Lake. A journey to Long Canyon Spring will fill your spirit with perfect feelings, and a scenic lake like McKibbins Pond is a pleasant place to stop at. Elk Lake is ordinarily a relatively waterless location; during August this area sees the most rain; the driest of the months is May. This lake is so wonderful. Best Western Sunrise Inn is a delightful place to get some rest. Places like Fish Sink are fine to visit, and West Fork Campground is a great campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful.
