Cottonwood Tailings Pond is close to Cottonwood Gulch which is undeniably worth a visit; Bootlegger Spring is always fun to check out. So much amusing stuff to do here at Cottonwood Tailings Pond, too pleasant to be true. There's so much to do here at Cottonwood Tailings Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Devils Canyon Campground is a glorious location for that, and Cottonwood Tailings Pond is not far       at all from Payson. This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Oak Flat Campground is a tremendous location to do that, and Manitou Hill is clearly visible from Cottonwood Tailings Pond. The vistas at Tonto National Monument will blow your mind, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Cottonwood Tailings Pond; J F Ranch Trail is a great local trail. This lake is so wonderful. Get your pulse rate up on the good whitewater of Gila River. At Cottonwood                  Tailings Pond throughout the warmest time of the year highs are in the 100's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 70's.
