The Bass Trail is a wonderful hiking trail near Castle Lake, and a great site to camp here at Castle Lake is DeMotte Campground. This lake is so wonderful. There is a brilliant hiking trail near Castle Lake called the Indian Hollow-Thunder Springs Trail Twenty-three; visiting Grand Canyon National Park is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. month of August you get the most rain around here, and June is when it's the driest. Don't stop me now, cause I'm havin' a perfect time here at Castle Lake. If you need a place to stay The Grand Hotel is a magnificent choice,
and camping is available at Indian Hollow Campground. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Castle Lake, and the overnight is fairly colder of course, generally in the 50's. Highs through the winter are ordinarily in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Castle Lake temperatures sink to the 10's.

Hermit Trail
 | 16 miles away (...) Hermit trail is in the Grand Canyon! And anyone who thinks it will be in the 70's in summer in the bottom of the Grand Canyon is in for a very unpleasant surprise! More like 120 degrees and you can die from that heat. Best hiking time is spring or fall for this trail. Summer is too dangerous, unless you are used to that broiler-oven desert heat. You need a permit to hike this trail, and since it is popular with backpackers, you will have to get it 4 months in advance, and it is not free. If you have never backpacked before they won't issue it to you, either. (...)... |
