If you need a location to stay Holiday Inn Express Van Buren (I-40 @ Hwy. 59 N.), is a good choice, and Lee Creek is a good whitewater spot close by. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Van Buren Inn, and you can go for a hike on the Butterfield Hiking Trail. A perfect site for whitewater paddling near Switchback Lake is Fall Creek, and needless to say Garrett Hollow Creek flows through       this area. Through the warm months at Switchback Lake highs are mostly in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and nighttime lows through the wintertime for Switchback Lake tend to be in the 20's. The Boston Mountains scenery is always beautiful. If you want a brilliant time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Switchback Lake. If you came for an overnight stay Devil's Den                  State Park is a good spot to camp. That right there is a heap of entertaining things already but it goes on, the Boston Mountains has it all. Nearby lakes? Sure, Cold Spring Lake is in the neighborhood of Switchback Lake, and Winn Creek RV Retreat is a wonderful local campground.
