Smith Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Jacksonport State Park is a good local campground, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Salado Creek. Smith Lake is a pretty wet place generally with a lot of precipitation; through March this area sees the most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. Through the long summer days, highs frequently are in the 90's at Smith Lake. All through the moonlight hours it's usually in the 60's.
