Tall Peak is clearly visible from Shady Lake, and you can run the rapids of Saline River. This lake is so wonderful. At Shady Lake Dam in the neighborhood of Shady Lake there are some interesting things to see, and Harris Creek is a splendid whitewater spot nearby. At Shady Lake during the summertime highs are       in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and nighttime lows during the winter for Shady Lake tend to be in the 20's. There's no way someone can get bored here in the Ouachita Mountains. Shady Lake is not the only place close by, Shady Lake is a close by lake, and Queen Wilhelmina State Park is a fine local campground. If you fancy the outdoors, you'll adore Shady Lake. East Saline                  Creek is a brilliant local stream; if the weather is splendid, you can go for a hike along the Gap Mountain Trail.
