For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 60's. Highs during the winter are frequently in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Old River Lake descend into the 20's. A great nearby hotel is Scottish Inns Morrilton, and some of the water close by flows, like Gap Creek. Old River Lake sees       pretty high levels of precipitation; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and January meanwhile is the driest month. There are some delightful whitewater spots on Cove Creek. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Cadron Creek, and Old River Lake is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, Morrilton Koa Kampground is a wonderful local campground. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay                  Super 8 Motel - Morrilton is a good choice.
