Dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites EL DORADO, and Long Lake is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, Grand Marais Campground is a brilliant local campground. Long Lake gets a lot of water; March is when you get the most rain here, and August is when it's the driest. High temperatures at Long Lake during the summer are in the 90's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 60's. During the winter highs are in the 50's

This is a popular place for people from El Dorado, and after a long day outdoors Super 8 Motel - Smackover is a great site to spend a night or two.

of Long Lake is Boones Mound. Lakes are good; Snow Lake is a lake that's in the vicinity of Long Lake. Don't leave Long Lake without first checking out Haynes Bend, and if you came to camp Silver Eagle RV Campground is a delightful
location to do that.
A good place in close proximity to Long Lake is Haidee Shoals, and you're perhaps addicted to lakes, Big Horseshoe Brake is one of those close by.

Blackwater Lakes
| ...n Jacks, I think the proper name is Pikes. More than likely ther are big fish in there. On year we dressed the lake up with about six dozen Yo-Yo's and we did catch a lot of Catfish. We camp out that Friday night and fried Catfish all day Saturday. Someone stated in an earlier comment to consult a guide before heading over and that is right. Anytime you are heading to Blackwater, Half Moon, English Bee, and others in this area, have someone with you (...) and make sure someone knows where your'e at. These lake are about 13 to 15 miles from pavement and another 15 miles from Camden. This is the real meaning of Deep Woods. There are all types of wild life in this area, Wild boars, Multiple types of snakes, Rattlers, Water Mocasins, and many others and most of all Alligators. I've not seen any around Blackwater or Half Moon, but then again I did say it's been thirty years since I've fished these lake. The last time I rember fishing English Bee I counted about five alligators in that lake. They never bothered you, but you would always see thier head pop up out of the water as to say ''I'... |
Half Moon Lake
| ...s he fought this fish about fifteen or more minutes and finnally netted him. Oh!! Excuse me we are talking about Maurice, he lip landed him. None the less he brought back a beautiful large mouth bass that weighed between 10-12 pounds. I do not think that any of us ever imagined fish being in this lake that size until Cree strutted that trophy. Well naturally this called for a ceremonial Columbian Red Ride and a cold brewzky and another brewzky. Well by this time it's getting late and the Red is taking it's affect (Munchies). Now let me introduce you to the rest of the oufit; Milton, Ernie, Raymond, Hamp, Cree, and your truly. We being the upstanding gentlemen that we are we never take advantage of another sportmans game, but it was late and we were getting hungry from the Red Ride, so... we made a couple of suggestion of getting something to eat and after close discussion of taxing the trophy it ended up being just that a discussion. Raymond assembled the kitchen and the trophy to this day is a memory in our minds and the reason for the extra 3 inches in my waist line. We ate the bas... |
