You're perhaps interested in lakes, Harris Pond is one of those nearby, and camping is available at White River Marina. Summertime brings highs in the 90's to Lake Vinson, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's. Mount Nebo State Park
| ...sh vegetation, abundant wildlife and breathtaking scenery. In 1927, Mt. Nebo was designated as a state park. The majority of the trails, cabins, bridges and pavilions at the park were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The approach to the summit of Mt. Nebo is as breathtaking as the park itself. State Hwy. 155 (paved) zigzags up the eastern side of the mountain. From base to top there are a series of tight hairpin turns. We recommend no trailers or RV's over 24 ft. Long attempt the climb. Be sure your vehicle is in good condition, use low gear and turn off the A/C to avoid overheating. At the Bench Overlook you can stop to enjoy the panoramic view and rest your vehicle.
Camping A wooded campground, accommodating up to 25 camping units, is open year-round. All are equipped with tables, grills, water and electricity. A modern bathhouse, open April to November, is located in the campground. Self-contained camping units may use the sanitary dump station at nearby Lake Dardanelle State Park free of charge. Mt. Nebo also offers 10 hikein campsites located along the ''Bench. '... |

Does anyone know how Moore Outdoors is doing? Last year when I went, their store was always closed even though they were still renting. Cant seem to get anyone on the phone this year....I go to the big piney every year, always have a blast always find something new, not the most challenging paddling but I always have a great time. If you go and don't use moore outdoors its definitely a mistake... |
