Highs through the wintertime are generally in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Lake Shepherd Springs. Lake Shepherd Springs is a great spot to visit for more than one day, Shores Lake Campground is a great spot to camp nearby, and since you're here, you could also take a look at wonderful Lake Sheppard       Spring Reservoir. Lake Shepherd Springs is one of the lakes here in the Boston Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. Comfort Inn & Suites is a good place to get some rest, and Lake Sheppard Spring Dam is not far at all from Lake Shepherd Springs. Lake Shepherd Springs is a wet location that gets a good deal of rain; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is January. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone                  but if it's for you then we recommend Little Mill Creek - East Fork, and you can go for a hike on the Shores Lake Water Rock Spur. Whohoo, so much fun stuff in one place! The Boston Mountains is excellent! Silver Leaf Camp Park is a great campground nearby; Mount Gaylor Lake is a nearby lake that you could explore. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in close proximity to Lake Shepherd Springs. Some nearby water includes Cow Branch, and great hiking is available along the Butterfield Hiking Trail. This lake is so wonderful. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors enjoyable stuff the Boston Mountains has to offer.
