Whitewater paddling is great on Saline River - Middle Fork, and a lake close by is Lake Pineda. This lake is so wonderful. Lake Desoto is a wonderful place to visit for more than one day, Brookhill Ranch is a wonderful place to camp nearby; Hot Springs Dam Number One is an interesting thing to check out. All the outdoors fun things near Lake Desoto will keep you coming back repeatedly.       A nice nearby hotel is Hot Springs Knights Inn, and Hot Springs National Park is a fine national park. The high level of precipitation makes Lake Desoto a rather wet site; May is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is January. This lake is so wonderful. If you fancy the outdoors you'll fancy it here in the Ouachita Mountains. After a long day outdoors Springs Hotel and Spa is a nice spot to spend a night or two. You'll need more                  than a day to discover everything Lake Desoto has to offer, you can camp at Gulpha Gorge Campground. This lake is located in the wonderful Ouachita Mountains. You'll in fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing stuff in the Ouachita Mountains. Get drenched paddling on Trace Creek, and Lake Desoto is not the only place nearby, Lake Cortez is a nearby lake. At Lake Desoto during the warm months highs are in the 90's. Summer overnight lows sink down to the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are commonly in the 40's, and nighttime lows at Lake Desoto during the wintertime commonly descend into the 20's.
