There's whitewater on Spring River for all you adrenaline people, naturally you could also stop at Lake Omaha while you're here; it's not far at all. All the water falling down from       the sky makes Lake Chanute a wet spot; May is the wettest month with most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. Nearby lakes? Sure, Lake Aztec is next to Lake Chanute, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Spring River - South Fork. Throughout the months of summer here at Lake Chanute, high temperatures mostly reach the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. All through the wintertime the highs                  are typically in the 40's; nighttime lows through the wintertime for Lake Chanute tend to be in the 10's. This lake is one of the great places here in the Boston Mountains. This lake is so wonderful.
