If you like lakes and you're in this part of Arkansas you can check out Hot Springs Reservoir. Whohoo, so much cool stuff in one place! The Ouachita Mountains rocks! This is a great region for folks who like lakes. Bethel Lake is a lake in the vicinity, and lots of folks from Hot Springs come here. This lake is so wonderful. Get dripping wet paddling on Saline River - Middle Fork, and why not camp at Pit Stop RV Park and Restaurant since you're here at Hot

| | Springs Reservoir. Summer at Hot Springs Reservoir comes with high temperatures in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and night lows at Hot Springs Reservoir through the winter regularly plunge into the 20's. This lake is one of the great places here in the Ouachita Mountains. So much cool stuff to do at Hot Springs Reservoir, so little time. Camping is available at Phil's Mobile | |

Home Park, and if you have the time, Hot Springs National Park is a national park worth a visit. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors cool things the Ouachita Mountains has to offer. Whitewater paddling is brilliant on
Gulpha Creek, and after a long day outdoors Howard Johnson Inn is a good location to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Nearby lakes? Sure, Ricks Lake is close to Hot Springs Reservoir; a round of golf at nearby Magic
Hills Public Golf Course is a fine way to kill some time. Hot Springs Reservoir ordinarily gets a good deal of rain; the wettest month of the year is regularly May, that's the one that rains the most while January is typically the
driest month. Very good water scenery is available at Ricks Dam in the neighborhood of Hot Springs Reservoir, and a splendid nearby hotel is Springs Hotel and Spa.

Most of the rapids are in the first half mile and a few more when you join up with the main fork of Blakely creek. De Roche creek nearby is a better run but this would make a good chaser or a good intro to creek paddleing.... |
