     Just can't get enough of the Ouachita Mountains. Gibson Lake is a beautiful lake in the Ouachita Mountains. If you get bored of Gibson Lake, you could also go to close by Kingfisher Lake, and Cedar Creek has a nice whitewater paddling spot nearby.
You believe that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Take a side spree to Smiley Bayou, and you can stay the night at Bluff Hole - Ozark-St. Francis National Forest. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a spot to
 
   stay Quality Inn Russellville is a fine choice, and at Gibson Lake you always meet someone from Russellville. In case you dont have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Galla Creek, and a delightful close by hotel is Comfort Inn & Suites.
Gibson Lake is a reasonably wet place ordinarily with a good deal of precipitation; May is the month that gets the most rain, and January is when it's the driest. And that's not everything you
 
               can do here in the Ouachita Mountains. Open Slough is a nearby lake that you could pop by, and Gibson Lake is a tremendous site to visit for more than one day, Aux Arc - Ozark-St. Francis National Forest is a tremendous site to camp nearby. All through the months of summer, highs ordinarily are in the 90's at Gibson Lake with overnight lows in the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Gibson Lake.

Mount Nebo State Park

...e Dardanelle, the Arkansas River and the surrounding mountain ridges. Atop this biblically named plateau, fringed by the Ozark National Forest, is Mt. Nebo State Park. Mt. Nebo, inhabited since pre-Civil War years, has always been a favorite vacation spot. During the 1890s, a resort hotel was built to house steamboat passengers on the Arkansas River. These summertime visitors enjoyed the mountainfs cooler temperatures, lush vegetation, abundant wildlife and breathtaking scenery. In 1927, Mt. Nebo was designated as a state park. The majority of the trails, cabins, bridges and pavilions at the park were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The approach to the summit of Mt. Nebo is as breathtaking as the park itself. State Hwy. 155 (paved) zigzags up the eastern side of the mountain. From base to top there are a series of tight hairpin turns. We recommend no trailers or RV's over 24 ft. Long attempt the climb. We did Hollis to Deberrie 11 mi in a canoe Sunday 3/15/09, gauge ht 3.5-4, rain 2 days ago. Beautiful scenery, little murky. A big rock Blockhead got us, dumped, not the only exciting place though....
