Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Ouachita Mountains. Camping is available at J&J RV Park, and a splendid site for whitewater paddling is Saline River - Middle Fork. Desoto Lake is one of the lakes here in the Ouachita Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. Hot Springs Mountain is a peak you can catch a sight of from Desoto Lake, and a journey to Desoto Lake wouldn't be complete without taking a look       at Big Chalybeate Spring. This lake is so wonderful. Get your pulse rate up on the brilliant whitewater of Gulpha Creek; if you've had enough of Desoto Lake, Country Club Lake is close by. Don't you try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a delightful time here at Desoto Lake. Visiting Hot Springs National Park is just something you need to do if you haven't yet; lots of people from Hot Springs come here. You might want to pay a visit to The Gorge since you're                  here at Desoto Lake; Magic Hills Public Golf Course is a delightful golf course nearby. But wait, there's more amusing things to do in the Ouachita Mountains. A magnificent spot to camp here at Desoto Lake is Gulpha Gorge Campground, and a magnificent nearby hotel is Hot Springs Knights Inn. During the summer, highs generally are in the 90's at Desoto Lake. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 60's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Desoto Lake are in the 20's. After a long day outdoors Howard Johnson Inn is a great location to spend a night or two; there's some exciting stuff to catch a glimpse of at Desoto Park Dam next to Desoto Lake.
