There's no way someone can get bored here in the Ouachita Mountains. Here at Big Lake you'll in all probability meet some people from Hot Springs. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Hot Springs Village, and a great spot for whitewater paddling is Gulpha Creek. Be careful coming to Big Lake, you might not ever wanna go home again. Big Lake is a magnificent place to visit for more than one day, Brookhill Ranch is a magnificent place to camp nearby,

A good deal of rainfall falls at Big Lake; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is January. Stay the night at Gulpha Gorge Campground, and Lake Desoto is a pleasant lake close by. An exciting thing to explore in close proximity to Big Lake is Big Lake Dam; get your heart pumping on the glorious whitewater of Saline River - Middle Fork. Summertime | |
