Whitewater paddling is great on Saline River - Middle Fork, and Big Lake Dam is a pretty spot, certainly worth going to. Yeah, come up here to the Ouachita Mountains for a delightful time. At Big Lake during the days of summer highs are in the 90's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Big Lake. All       the outdoors enjoyable stuff in the Ouachita Mountains will keep you coming back repeatedly. If you're visiting Big Lake from Hot Springs, you won't be the only one, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out nearby Lake Pineda. This lake is so wonderful. A spree to Hot Springs National Park is worthwhile, and if you came to camp Gulpha Gorge Campground is a tremendous place to do that. Now, you may feel that's plenty but there's even                  more enjoyable stuff to do here at Big Lake. Paddling on Gulpha Creek is so much fun, and if you need a site to stay Hot Springs Knights Inn is a delightful choice. Howard Johnson Inn is a great place to get some rest. There's so much to do here at Big Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Girl Scout Camp Storey is a glorious location for that. The Ouachita Mountains scenery is always beautiful.
