At Tidwell Pond you can spot Chert Mountain, and Jameson Inn Trussville is a delightful site to get some rest. A good close by hotel is Best Western Colonial Inn. There's so much to do here at Tidwell Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Horse Pens 40 Campground is a wonderful place for that. If you're a golfer then a nice close by course is Limestone Springs Golf Club, and you're       probably addicted to lakes, Gilliand Pond is one of those nearby. Lower Sand Valley is a nice place to spend some time at, and Tidwell Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, Alabama WMU Camp is a great local campground. Float down the rapids of Chitwood Creek in a kayak, and unsurprisingly Cheney Branch is a beautiful stream that is worth going to. For the duration of the long summer days at Tidwell Pond highs are usually in the 80's. Through the                  moonlight hours it's frequently in the 60's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's; nighttime lows at Tidwell Pond throughout the winter mostly drop into the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Warrior River - Calvert Prong of the Locust Fork; probably you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Inland Lake is just a very short distance away.
