Penitentiary Hollow is a glorious place to pop by near Stephens Lake. But wait, there's more to do near Stephens Lake. There's some flowing water close by, Little Sand Valley Creek is a stream you can visit while you're here; do put some time aside to spend at Duck Springs if you're here at Stephens Lake. If you need a place to stay Travelodge Attalla is a great choice, and you're       sure to run into some cheerful people from Gadsden here. Stephens Lake sees pretty high levels of rainfall; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is October. This lake is so wonderful. A pleasant site to camp here at Stephens Lake is Noccalula Falls Campgrounds; there are some great whitewater spots on Line Creek. Summertime highs at Stephens Lake generally tend to be in the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer                  temperatures descend down into the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Stephens Lake. Why not camp at Lakeside Rv Park while you're here at Stephens Lake, and if you come at the right time of year, Black River offers some good whitewater.
