You'll need more than a day to explore everything Steeds Lake has to offer, you can camp at Dogwood Meadows Campground, and you'll discover a pretty lake called Brooks Lake. Steeds Lake is a rather wet place commonly with lots of precipitation; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and October meanwhile is the driest month. You'll meet a lot of folks from Anniston-Oxford here. Dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Lincoln, and good water

Alligator Branch is next to Steeds Lake and is always a delight to pop by, and drift down the rapids of Salt Creek in a kayak. Paddling on Choccolocco Creek is so much fun; a wonderful lake like Catfish Lake is a great place to stop at. Through the warm days of summer at Steeds Lake highs are generally in the 80's. much to do here at Steeds Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Talladega Taz RV Park & Campground is a tremendous place for that.

 | 16 miles away Paddling Salt Creek crosses private land and in Alabama if you can't navigate it in a craft of somekind you are tresspassing as soon as you step out of the craft. The last 2 miles before Henderson Lake road is all private land. It is so low and narrow with dead falls everywhere there is no way to navigate it in any kind of craft.... |
