     A good close by hotel is Best Western Russellville Hotel & Suites, and Smith Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Bear Creek Development Authority is a fine local campground. While you're here at Smith Lake, you could also stop by lovely Cagle Wash Hole, and a good location for whitewater paddling is Bear Creek. Smith Lake in fact is in the middle of a striking outdoors paradise. Hubbard Creek/Sipsey Fork is a great whitewater spot in the neighborhood  
   of Smith Lake. Summertime at Smith Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Smith Lake are in the 20's.
If you came to camp Payne's RV Park is a great site to do that; there's some flowing water close by, Dykes Branch is a stream you can stop by while you're here. All the water falling down from the sky makes Smith
 
               Lake a wet location; through the month of December you get the most rain around here, and October on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. You'll come across a scenic lake called Rinehart Wash Hole near Smith Lake, and after a long day outdoors Wynnewood Inn is a magnificent site to spend a night or two.

Water flow is controled by TVA, in summer they let enough through to float on weekends and holidays. The rest of the year can be high or low anytime....The land on each side of the creek is private property. Camping is not allowed. There is only an emergency exit easment on each side of the creek. If you camp you will be trespassing....
