Go to Silver Lake if you want to go to a nice lake. This lake is so wonderful. There are other spots here than Silver Lake, for example Shadow Lake. Silver Lake gets a lot of water; March is the wettest month with most rain, and October on the other hand is the driest. Yep, outdoors exciting things to do are beyond doubt plentiful here at Silver Lake. If you're a golfer then a great close by course is Cumberland Lake Country Club; naturally, A spree to The Narrows

There's so much to do here at Silver Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Holiday Travel Park is a delightful location for that, and not far from Silver Lake you'll come across Center Point Lake which is a charming lake. Beaver Creek is a stream that you may come across while you're here, and if you need a site to stay Jameson Inn Trussville is a fine choice. and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Cahaba River. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Trussville, Al is a great place to spend
a night or two; Center Point Lake Dam is a scenic location. Through the summertime months at Silver Lake temperatures are commonly in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come
with highs in the 50's, and night lows at Silver Lake during the wintertime mostly sink into the 30's. There are some magnificent whitewater spots on Gurley Creek; if you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Birmingham-Hoover.

 | ...r produced what I would call true rapids. Most of these areas were short two to three foot falls followed by a run produced by the current. And one was just a long series of wide wave trains. I did enjoy the rapids but even a novice paddler with a few trips under their belt could handle this section. The only bad part was the long flats inbetween the rapids. I was lucky in that I timed my trip two days after a heavy rain so the current was nice and steady. If not for that I would have been exhausted from paddling across the flats. Luckily the scenery is good and there is plenty of wildlife to enjoy. The put in at Lovic bridge is tricky. Its a pretty steep grade and full of mud and sand. I ended up just getting in my canoe and slidding down the hill into the water. Thats a good way to flip so take a friend and you could rope your boat down much easier. The take out at Grants Mill is alot nicer. It has a nice gravel parking lot and a concrete ramp down to the river with a concrete docking pad in the water.
