     There are other places here than Shadow Lake, for example Old Camp Cosby Lake, and there's always Turkey Creek Lake Dam to explore close to Shadow Lake. Gurley Creek has a delightful whitewater paddling spot nearby; not far from Shadow Lake you'll come across Shadow Lake which is a scenic lake. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining things at Shadow Lake. At Shadow Lake you always meet someone from Birmingham-Hoover; if you came
to camp Holiday Travel Park is a nice place to do that. This lake is so wonderful. At Shadow Lake you can make out Black Oak Mountain, and camping at Alabama WMU Camp is always a nice experience.
Shadow Lake is a relatively wet place commonly with a great deal of rainfall; during the month of March you get the most rain around here, and October is when it's the driest. Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites TRUSSVILLE is a tremendous location to get some rest;

             why not spend some time golfing at a close by golf course like Cumberland Lake Country Club. After a long day outdoors Jameson Inn Trussville is a good location to spend a night or two; in the event that you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cahaba River.
This lake is so wonderful. Through the warmest time of the year at Shadow Lake temperatures are regularly in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Shadow Lake.

Cahaba River

...dled this part of the Cahaba and had a blast. Although it does have a class II rating I only encountered four areas where the river produced what I would call true rapids. Most of these areas were short two to three foot falls followed by a run produced by the current. And one was just a long series of wide wave trains. I did enjoy the rapids but even a novice paddler with a few trips under their belt could handle this section. The only bad part was the long flats inbetween the rapids. I was lucky in that I timed my trip two days after a heavy rain so the current was nice and steady. If not for that I would have been exhausted from paddling across the flats. Luckily the scenery is good and there is plenty of wildlife to enjoy. The put in at Lovic bridge is tricky. Its a pretty steep grade and full of mud and sand. I ended up just getting in my canoe and slidding down the hill into the water. Thats a good way to flip so take a friend and you could rope your boat down much easier.
