Bear Creek Reservoir is a lake in close proximity, and if you need a site to stay Key West Inn Tuscumbia(Shoals) is a great choice. There's good hiking along the Borden Creek Trail; get yourself into a kayak and hit Sipsey Fork.
A wonderful nearby hotel is Wynnewood Inn, and soar down the rapids of Hubbard Creek/Sipsey Fork in a kayak. Robertsons Lake sees pretty high levels of rainfall; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain; the driest month is October.
