Camping at Alabama WMU Camp is always a tremendous experience; swing by Stinking Creek it's a perfect spot to pop by. If you came to camp Holiday Travel Park is a delightful spot to do that, and if you've had enough of Queenstown Lake, Mountain Lake is close by. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Cahaba River, and if you need a location to stay Courtyard Birmingham Trussville is a glorious

| | choice. Here at Queenstown Lake you'll perhaps meet some folks from Birmingham-Hoover, and a pleasant close by hotel is Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites TRUSSVILLE. This lake is so wonderful. At Queenstown Lake throughout the summer highs are in the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 50's with temperatures at Queenstown Lake dipping down into the 30's throughout | |

winter nights. So much fun stuff to do here at Queenstown Lake, too pleasant to be true. Playing golf is lots of fun at Trussville Country Club, and on a lovely day you get a splendid view of Talladega Hill from Queenstown Lake.
Nearby lakes? Sure, Lake George is near Queenstown Lake; there's some out of the ordinary stuff to see at Lake George Dam close to Queenstown Lake. Queenstown Lake sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is March, and October is the month with the least moisture.

 | ... would call true rapids. Most of these areas were short two to three foot falls followed by a run produced by the current. And one was just a long series of wide wave trains. I did enjoy the rapids but even a novice paddler with a few trips under their belt could handle this section. The only bad part was the long flats inbetween the rapids. I was lucky in that I timed my trip two days after a heavy rain so the current was nice and steady. If not for that I would have been exhausted from paddling across the flats. Luckily the scenery is good and there is plenty of wildlife to enjoy. The put in at Lovic bridge is tricky. Its a pretty steep grade and full of mud and sand. I ended up just getting in my canoe and slidding down the hill into the water. Thats a good way to flip so take a friend and you could rope your boat down much easier. The take out at Grants Mill is alot nicer. It has a nice gravel parking lot and a concrete ramp down to the river with a concrete docking pad in the water.
