After a long day outdoors Best Western Bass Hotel & Suites is a good site to spend a night or two, and you are right next door to Higdon Point since you're here. High temperatures at North Valley View Lake during the days of summer are in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows sink down to the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at North Valley View Lake. A magnificent nearby hotel is Days Inn Leeds, and obviously,

| | this is a pleasant neighborhood for people who like lakes, Valley View Lake is a lake around here. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are nice; Ledbetter Lake Number 2 is a lake that's near North Valley View Lake; if you're dropping by from Birmingham-Hoover, you won't be the only one. This lake is so wonderful. Tunnel Branch is close to North Valley View Lake and is always a pleasure to pop by, and Holiday Travel Park is a glorious campground nearby. If only | |

every spot had this much outdoors enjoyable things, what a great earth it would be. Stay the night at Coosa River Camp Retreat Alabama, and Cahaba River has a pleasant whitewater paddling spot close by. North Valley View Lake
is a wet site that gets a large amount of precipitation; through the month of March you get the most rain around here, and October on the other hand is the driest. Nearby Roaring Hollow is a nice location to go if you're at North Valley View Lake; North Valley View Lake Dam is an exciting thing to check out.

 | 10 miles away ...ucky in that I timed my trip two days after a heavy rain so the current was nice and steady. If not for that I would have been exhausted from paddling across the flats. Luckily the scenery is good and there is plenty of wildlife to enjoy. The put in at Lovic bridge is tricky. Its a pretty steep grade and full of mud and sand. I ended up just getting in my canoe and slidding down the hill into the water. Thats a good way to flip so take a friend and you could rope your boat down much easier. The take out at Grants Mill is alot nicer. It has a nice gravel parking lot and a concrete ramp down to the river with a concrete docking pad in the water. You NEED to go look at the take out before you go on your trip though. The take out is nice but its positioned weirdly. You come down river to it after your last rapid and if the water is up or moving along well then you really have to back paddle to make the docking pad. Also if you miss the pad the current picks up dead even with the pad and will take you on down river before you realize it. Just check the weather and the USGS sites for the w... |
