     Moore Lake is a nice site to visit for more than one day, Coosa River Camp Retreat Alabama is a nice site to camp nearby, and Valley View Lake is a nearby lake that you could take a look at. If you need a spot to stay Best Western Bass Hotel & Suites is a good choice; Davis Lake Dam Number Two is an exciting thing to check out. All through the warm days of summer at Moore Lake temperatures are typically in the 80's; during summer nights temperatures are in  
   the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 50's with temperatures at Moore Lake dipping down into the 30's through winter nights. After a long day outdoors Days Inn Leeds is a wonderful place to spend a night or two, and Big Branch is one of the streams nearby that might be worth stopping at.
Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. Holiday Travel Park is a great campground nearby, and do visit Mountain View Lake, it's a pretty lake.
 
               Moore Lake is a reasonably wet place commonly with a good deal of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is March; the driest month of the year is October. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Moore Lake you will meet lots of folks from close by Birmingham-Hoover, and if you come at the right time of year, Cahaba River offers some nice whitewater.
Wyatts Gap is a perfect site to spend some time at.

Cahaba River
...it does have a class II rating I only encountered four areas where the river produced what I would call true rapids. Most of these areas were short two to three foot falls followed by a run produced by the current. And one was just a long series of wide wave trains. I did enjoy the rapids but even a novice paddler with a few trips under their belt could handle this section. The only bad part was the long flats inbetween the rapids. I was lucky in that I timed my trip two days after a heavy rain so the current was nice and steady. If not for that I would have been exhausted from paddling across the flats. Luckily the scenery is good and there is plenty of wildlife to enjoy. The put in at Lovic bridge is tricky. Its a pretty steep grade and full of mud and sand. I ended up just getting in my canoe and slidding down the hill into the water. Thats a good way to flip so take a friend and you could rope your boat down much easier. The take out at Grants Mill is alot nicer. It has a nice gravel parking lot and a concrete ramp down to the river with a concrete docking pad in the water. You N...
