     If you need a place to stay Days Inn Calera is a delightful choice, and why not camp at Peach Queen Campgrounds while you're here at Moore Lake. Now, you may assume that's lots but there's even more amusing stuff to do here at Moore Lake. While you're here at Moore Lake you can play some golf at Magnolia Meadows Golf Course; paddling on Yellowleaf Creek - North Fork is so much fun. This lake is so wonderful. Float down the rapids of Cahaba River in a kayak, and  
   Adams Lake is a magnificent lake nearby. If you're interested in hydro structures, you can take a look at Moore Dam; Pelham Koa Kampground is a perfect local campground.
A pretty lake like Pumpkin Swamp Road Lake in the vicinity of Moore Lake is a magnificent spot to explore. Moore Lake gets a lot of water; March is when you get the most rain here while October is ordinarily the driest month. A good nearby hotel is Holiday Inn Express CALERA-I-65 EXIT 231,
 
               and Moore Lake is a spot with many visitors from Birmingham-Hoover.
During the warm days of summer at Moore Lake highs are mostly in the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Moore Lake are in the 30's.

Just stopped here on our way north from the Florida panhandle.? Great stopover spot, extemely convenient to I-65.? Clean, neat campground, great bathrooms and showers, friendly, well-informed staff, and the area has all the basics travelers like us are interested in---food, shopping, RV stores, food, food, etc.? I know this would also be a nice spot for a longer stay....

...g series of wide wave trains. I did enjoy the rapids but even a novice paddler with a few trips under their belt could handle this section. The only bad part was the long flats inbetween the rapids. I was lucky in that I timed my trip two days after a heavy rain so the current was nice and steady. If not for that I would have been exhausted from paddling across the flats. Luckily the scenery is good and there is plenty of wildlife to enjoy. The put in at Lovic bridge is tricky. Its a pretty steep grade and full of mud and sand. I ended up just getting in my canoe and slidding down the hill into the water. Thats a good way to flip so take a friend and you could rope your boat down much easier. The take out at Grants Mill is alot nicer. It has a nice gravel parking lot and a concrete ramp down to the river with a concrete docking pad in the water. You NEED to go look at the take out before you go on your trip though. The take out is nice but its positioned weirdly. You come down river to it after your last rapid and if the water is up or moving along well then you really have to back p...
